Description
This painting was the first in the Syrian tile series, inspired by a tile panel in the Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon, Portugal. It dates from the late 16th or early 17th century and is from Ottoman Damascus. The depiction of grapes was an adaptation from Ming blue and white dishes imported to Damascus.
