Description
The tiles that inspired this watercolor are from a panel in the Leighton House Museum, Kensington, London. Frederick Leighton had buyers in Damascus scour the suqs and private houses for beautiful tiles that had survived after much ruin from the 1860 conflict between Muslims, Druze and Christians.
